Funeral arrangements honoring the life of Mr. Albert Paul Self, 80 of Pleasant Hill, LA will be held on Wednesday, December 22. 2021 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, LA with Rev. Drake Barnhill officiating. A visitation for him will begin on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 5:00 PM and will continue until service time. Interment will be at Spring Ridge Cemetery. Albert Paul Self was born on April 14, 1941 in Converse, Louisiana to Henry Paul Self and Artie Mae (Moore) Self. He was called home on December 18, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer while he was taken care of at the Natchitoches Community Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Paul & Artie Mae (Moore) Self; his wife, Linda (Henderson) Self. Surviving his death are his son, Shannon Self & wife, Ashley of Longview, TX; his daughters, Deidre Poole & husband, Perry of Andrews, TX, Tanya Pratt & husband, Jason of Dallas, TX, Donna Blogg & husband, Wayne of Waxahachie, TX; his sisters Pat Robinson, Nora Dodson, and Mary Shaw of Pleasant Hill, LA and Veronica Loupe of Rockport, Texas; his brother, John Self of Natchitoches, LA; along with 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a host of other family members. Albert was raised in Red River Parish where he excelled in football and other sports; he received a scholarship to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches then he went into the Army as a paratrooper. Afterward, he moved to Andrews, Texas where he went to work in the oilfield and became Vice-President of Cactus Drilling. He eventually retired from the company and moved back to Louisiana to fish and be with family. Condolences can be made to the family at www.rose-neath.com.
