He was an active member of Grawood Baptist Church in Keithville, Louisiana from 1967 until his death. He believed strongly in his service to the Lord and he committed many hours serving as a Deacon for 45 years. In recent years, he also enjoyed dinner and fellowship at the Hope Community Church next door. For all who attended services at Grawood Baptist Church, their greatest memory of Mr. Bogan was his consistent presence at the front door, greeting them with a warm friendly smile, a handshake, and the offer of a peppermint as they entered the sanctuary. His family and friends find comfort in knowing he received the same greeting as Jesus welcomed him home.
Mr. Bogan loved his family. As a young man, he enjoyed bird and deer hunting with his sons. He was also an avid horseman and a founding member of the Southside Riding Club. His Christmas displays were so spectacular that many children believed they were visiting "Santa's House".
