Adelia Angelette “Angel” WilliamsonAlexander, aged 54, was blessed into eternity on June 25, 2024, following her inspiring and courageous battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Angel was at her home on beautiful Cypress Lake surrounded by family when she took her last breath on Earth.
Angel was born in Minot, North Dakota, to Nancy Genevieve Montgomery Williamson and Charles Roy Williamson on May 2, 1970. She was the youngest child of the family, with two older brothers: Charles Kenneth Williamson and Marcus Dean Williamson. Although the family was originally from Arkansas, her father was stationed at Minot Air Force Base when she was born and relocated to Bossier City, Louisiana when Angel was only six weeks old. Angel was a very outgoing and ambitious child who loved being involved in extracurricular activities, such as competing in pageants, performing with the Flashettes Baton Twirlers, and participating in community service activities. She held several local titles in pageantry, the most esteemed of which was Miss Teen Louisiana Coed. Overall, her main passion in life was to help others, and holding these titles allowed her to give back to her community and receive so much back in return.
Angel graduated from Southfield High School in Shreveport, LA, in 1989 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University in 1995. She also received her Master of Science in Nursing with a Concentration as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Northwestern State University in 2002, while on bed rest expecting her twins. She worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the Medical-Surgical, Postoperative, Recovery, and Surgical Intensive Care Units. Angel absolutely loved caring for our country’s veterans and listening to all of their stories. She later worked at Willis-Knighton Bossier in the Postoperative and Recovery Units and then served in the Willis-Knighton Health System as a Clinical Nursing Instructor. Inspiring the next generations of nursing students gave her much hope for the future of the healthcare system. Her main slogan to students was, “I’m teaching you like you will be taking care of my family or me in the future.” This was evident throughout her battle with cancer as she encountered many beautiful, familiar faces who treated her with the best care.
Angel married the love of her life, Scott Harlan Alexander, on September 26, 1998. Scott fought by her side every step of the way in her battle to fight cancer. She was the mother of twins, Grant Nathaniel and Genevieve Faith Alexander, who were born on July 15, 2002. Out of all of the titles Angel received in her lifetime, Mother was by far her favorite. From dance recitals, baseball games, barrel races, and fishing tournaments, to award ceremonies, track meets, and fashion shows, Angel never missed a moment to cheer on her twins and to celebrate their achievements. Angel and Scott seized every opportunity to show their children the world and fully supported them in all of their endeavors while making sure to take family vacations each year to an array of states and countries. Angel enjoyed taking pictures at every opportunity because she always wanted to capture life’s purest moments to cherish throughout time.
Her greatest desire was to save lives, which also included the lives of animals. In 2011, Angel co-founded TSR Louisiana Baby Mommas Nonprofit Puppy Rescue with Jean Williams. She and her family, along with other volunteers, opened their homes to foster puppies that required around-the-clock care and organized various fundraising events for the Rescue. The Rescue is still thriving today and has helped save thousands of puppies and their mommas from being put down by finding loving homes for these sweet creatures.
Angel proudly wore her huge heart on her sleeve and shared her life through her digital diary on Facebook. This allowed her to keep track of memories and be open and real about life’s ups and downs. Throughout her battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, she courageously took all of her friends along with her through the good and not-so-lovely aspects of her journey. She was blessed to stay connected with those whom she had known her all of life while also making new friends from all across the world who have been impacted by cancer.
Before her diagnosis and far into her battle, Angel competed in a variety of Peloton Competitions and was awarded a multitude of metals. Through the Peloton community, she gained more amazing friends who supported her throughout her journey. She fought what she labeled as “good cancer” for 18 months and made the most of her time being as physically active as she could. She was even blessed to visit the great Niagara Falls and the Windy City of Chicago during her fight.
Overall, Angel exuded elegance in everything she did. Her effervescent personality drew people to her and her gracious heart. She made faith and her family the forefront of everything she did. She was selfless and always lent a hand wherever she could, even when she was not physically able. Cancer may have taken her body from this Earth, but the light that she brought to the world will never be dimmed by the evilness of cancer. Angel saw her cancer as a blessing from God because it allowed her to take a step back and truly appreciate the little things in life and take nothing for granted. Through her testimony, many people around her became closer to God, and, as a family, Angel, Scott, and the twins became one unit of love on the foundation of faith.
Angel is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Genevieve Montgomery Williamson, and her father, Charles Roy Williamson.
Angel is survived by her loving husband, Scott Alexander, and her beloved twins, Grant and Genevieve Alexander, of Benton, LA; her brother, Charles Williamson and wife, Kathy of Shreveport, LA; her brother Marcus Williamson and wife, Randi Staggs of Bossier City, LA; and her many nieces and nephews, including: niece Rebecca Powell and husband, Beau, of Bossier City, LA; niece Laura Woodham and husband, Trey, of Shreveport, LA; nephew Marc Williamson and husband, Matthew Culpepper, of Bossier City, LA; nephew Benjamin Williamson and wife, Casey, of Bossier City, LA; and nephew Brian Williamson and wife, Melissa, of Shreveport, LA.
